Welcome to the team!
We are excited to have your kid/s on our robotics team this year. For an introduction of the team and some more basic general knowledge see the about us page.
Joining the team: Students will follow the link: www.firstinspires.org/ and click the 'sign up' button in the top right hand corner, unless you already have an account, please sign up. Proceed to fill out the required information to set up your account. Students will also have to provide a parent or guardian's email address, an email will then be sent to that address so parents can create their own account and fill out the consent and release form. After an account has been created for both parent/guardian and the child, the student can then register for the team by entering our team number, 4585, and then Mr. Castleton can accept their registration and put them onto the team roster.
Time commitment: When we are not in build season the team will meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays after school in Mr. Castleton's room, AT107. However, when build season (Jan-March) begins, we will start meeting every day of the week, including Saturdays. Student's are not required to be at every meeting, nor must they stay the whole time, we just ask that you give us what you can. We don't want it to become more important than grades, work, or family commitments, but we hope that this team is their most important after-school activity and we ask each student to give all they can to the team's success.
Events: In order to participate in events students must be registered on FIRST's website and on the team roster. The school provides no transportation, excluding regional competitions and Kickoff, for any of the events so parents will have to fill out "drive yourself" forms so their students can participate in any other FIRST opportunities. The "drive yourself" form gives consent for students to find their own transportation to and from the event. Students will not be allowed to participate if they have not turned in a signed copy of the form.
