Husky Robotics
Mission Statement: Husky Robotics aims to inspire students to understand and utilize techniques used to market, design, and create a robot through cooperation among peers and mentors along with development of leadership in everyone of our students. This positive, hands-on environment allows students to realize their ingenuity when faced with difficult engineering challenges. At Husky Robotics, students will gain the knowledge and experience necessary to succeed in school and life.
Team Origin: Husky Robotics is situated within the city of Midvale, Utah at Hillcrest High School. Since our founding in 2013, Husky Robotics has affected the lives of over 500 students through our membership, our FLL mentorship, and our sister FTC team. This has created an incredible impact upon our low-income community and promoting STEM education to those in need. When we began, Husky Robotics team contained 20 students, and has since blossomed, considering our FLL mentorship, FTC team, and community impact. While our team started from humble beginnings, we have created great impact in the past 6 years.
Sponsorship Programs: The levels of sponsorship are Friend, Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum. All levels are gratefully appreciated. See the sponsorship page to find out more!
Husky Robotics Impact: We are a team who inspires the principles of FIRST robotics by cooperating with multiple schools within our local community. Our team members have come from different districts and and different schools. Introducing these members to FIRST expands the reach of our club. Our past team member, Nicole Brooks, later formed Team 6411, showcasing the growth of FIRST programs our team has fostered. We have had multiple team members from other states and countries expanding to foreign states and countries for FIRST to grow and expand. Within our team, members are constantly encouraged to get engaged with many of our projects including, but not limited to: graphic design, animation, pit design, and FLL mentorship. This ensures that our team members unique talents are utilized effectively. When retaining and educating our sponsors, we similarly approach them through the preparation of events and presentations. We invite prospective businesses to observe our team at work and subsequently mentor us. This relationship connects our mentors, team members, and sponsors. This can additionally connect our mentors to FIRST programs across the nation and other countries as they learn the values of a robotics education through observation and engagement. These policies have greatly increased the number of mentors involved with the functioning of our team and creation of a safe environment of creation and inspiration at our robotics team build sessions, which perpetuates FIRST’s key principles.
Future Plans: Husky Robotics hopes to expand FIRST. We hope to spread FIRST and it's principles to other countries and states around the world. Spreading FIRST and it's principles would help and guide communities with those of low income families, refugees, and other disadvantaged students. We intend to return to World Championships as often as possible. Gaining sponsors, apply for grants, donations, and fundraisers are ways that will raise money for supplies and materials, competition, and other trips. We will improve the layout, design, and content of our website, update and post to our social media every week, and send out weekly updates to our stakeholders.
Other Ways You Can Help: Husky Robotics greatly appreciates any help that we receive from our community. If you are interested in mentoring our team, donating in any way, or helping in other ways, please send us an email through the Contact page. Mentions and tags on social media are also appreciated. THANK YOU!
